I used to criticize my body for everything I felt it wasn’t. Now, I praise my body for what it has carried me through.

As a black woman, the decision to love yourself just as you are is a radical act. And I’m as radical as they come.

Black Beauty is not acknowledged, affirmed, or celebrated unless it is showcased on a non-Black body. We are the blueprint they publicly denounce and secretly covet. They will always be caricatures of our authenticity. Who are they without us?

While protesting in the street, I am fighting for the rights of my community. While navigating my community, I am fighting to be loved. What more do Black women have to sacrifice to be loved by Black men? To be seen as worthy of fighting for. We have given everything. What have you given in return, Beloved? I cannot fight for you, and fight against you. I cannot honor your spirit, while you diminish mine.

As a Black Woman, I define self-care as the ability to safely and comfortably exhale.

America has never been a moral authority. America is a moral contradiction. It is a mirage of unity and freedom that disappears as soon as I reach out to touch it. As white America crumbles underneath the weight of it's hypocrisy, delusions of grandeur, and historical cruelty, Black America must be a resource and a beacon of light unto itself. Leave them in the shadows. We will carry the light and ensure our own survival and success.

Whatever good you have to bring into the world will be beneficial and it will be more than enough.
